Cathartic Glitch is a digital culture publication and creative project exploring the intersection of art, media, and digital experiences. The site covers films, games, music, animation, exhibitions, internet culture, New Media Art, and other works shaped by screens, sound, software, images, systems, and performance. Its focus is not only on whether something is good, but on how it is built, how it moves, how it thinks, and how it changes the way we experience the world around it. The blog moves between pop culture and contemporary art because those worlds are already connected, giving the same attention to a video game, a music video, a horror film, a digital artwork, a gallery show, or an internet-born project, whether it appears in a museum, on a console, in a cinema, on a phone, or inside a browser window.
The writing looks closely at structure, atmosphere, style, and feeling. It pays attention to color, pacing, sound, mechanics, interface, performance, composition, glitches, repetition, and visual language as part of what a work is trying to express. When technology is involved, it is treated as material, not decoration. Jonathan Glazer’s film The Zone of Interest (2023) explores the terrifying ordinariness of evil. Instead of showing the atrocities of Auschwitz directly, it keeps them beyond the walls, using sound and absence to reveal how easily people can protect their happiness by ignoring the suffering surrounding them.
